December 19, 2008 - Valley View's First Home Owner

Valley View, Brookings’ first subdivision in over 30 years designed with emphasis upon affordable housing closed its first home on Friday, December 19, 2008.  Ground break for the subdivision’s infrastructure took place on August 19, 2008 and construction of the first home began October 10, 2008.  Two more homes are scheduled to close before the end of this year.  Valley View developers Scott & Nancy Hodges and Keith & Cathy Rounds currently have four additional homes under construction and plan to retain one of those four as a “model home” which will be completed and open for the public viewing soon.  Valley View consists of 62 residential lots and an area for approximately 40 townhouses and condos as well as a future City park area.

Valley View currently has four unique floor plans available and prices range between $138,900 for a two bedroom, two bathroom home with an attached, double garage, central air, landscaping, sprinklers and sod to a two and one half bath, 3 bedroom two story home with the same amenities priced at $154,900.

“It’s a very exciting time for us”, says co-developer Scott Hodges.  “It has been a long road to get to this point, but the creation of a tax increment financing district and a large scale planned residential development offers Brooking homebuyers a unique opportunity to own a far more home than we ever dreamed possible”, said Hodges.

The Valley View development is located off 20th Street South approximately ¾ of a mile west of the water tower on South Main.
